Revealed: landmark Scottish AI project has no prospect of meeting renewables promise

A Guardian investigation found that the Lanarkshire AI datacentre complex, a £8.2bn project in Scotland, has no prospect of meeting its goal to be powered entirely by on-site renewables. The project's developers, DataVita and CoreWeave, had claimed the site would have 1GW of 'new energy infrastructure', but internal correspondence suggests this was not feasible.
