Amazon sunsets Mechanical Turk, the original "Artificial Artificial Intelligence"

Amazon is shutting down Mechanical Turk, a crowdsourcing service launched in 2005, to new customers starting July 30, 2026. Existing customers can continue using the service, but it will be in maintenance mode with no new features. This move follows a similar shutdown of SageMaker Ground Truth and Amazon Augmented AI.
